The HCA Organizing Committee (OC) has selected Muzlifah Haniffa and Alexandra-Chloé Villani as the next Co-Chairs of the HCA OC, succeeding HCA’s Co-Founders, Aviv Regev and Sarah Teichmann, who have concluded their second and final 5-year term as HCA Co-Chairs. Shyam Prabhakar and Holger Heyn have been elected as HCA’s co-Vice-Chairs.

John Randell, Executive Director of HCA, said: "The vision and leadership of HCA’s founders, Aviv Regev and Sarah Teichmann during the last decade enabled the creation of the HCA community, and its achievements as we prepare to announce the first draft of the Human Cell Atlas in early 2027. We are deeply grateful for their work towards creating an inclusive and comprehensive Atlas that will bring profound medical advances."

Piero Carninci, Member of the HCA OC and HCA Board, said: "As we start the second decade of the HCA, we are delighted that Muzz, Chloe, Shyam and Holger have accepted these roles on the HCA Organizing Committee. Each of them have made important contributions during the first phase of HCA and they are perfectly placed to take the initiative forwards into the next decade, and lead the vision for the next phase - HCA 2.0."
